I’m a Word Nerd. In the literal sense, that I love the Word. God’s Word. I read it, memorize it, draw it. I sing it incessantly (to the dismay of my cat, she hates it).
Last year in May, I set out to memorize the entirety of the Proverbs 31 Wife passage. Above all else, these words stick. They resonate in the deepest parts of me.
As I transitioned from working girl to caretaker to housewife, they rang true over and over again. Whispers of truth God used to remind me of my worth. Of my purpose. And occasionally gave me something to laugh at because, “I quite frankly don’t feel like being a Proverbs 31 Wife today, thank you very much, but no.”
She is noble. She is treasured. She is trustworthy. She is a benefit. She is eager. She provides. She is lively. She is smart. She is strong. She is confident. She is hardworking. She is generous. She is prepared. She is useful. She is respected. She is dignified. She laughs. She is wise. She is watchful. She is beloved. She fears the Lord. She is me.
“She laughs without fear of the future.” I love that part the most. Laughter is needed. It is proof that you have something in you that cannot be quieted. A peace about the future because you know who holds it. And laughing in uncertain times is not too different from laughing at the devil. So laugh!
